Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) adaptive learning systems show promise in increasing access and success for higher education students. The CUES Personalized Adaptive Learning System research study, a large-sample, multi-disciplinary investigation, explores this potential by addressing a crucial question: How can we integrate AI Adaptive Learning with in-person instruction to create a student-centered learning environment that fosters individual student success, expands access to education, and builds more equitable and inclusive learning environments? Learn about how this research forwards our understanding of Adaptive Learning Systems Theory and supports Student-AI Collaborative Learning Theory and demonstrates the promise and challenges of AI personalized learning experiences. Additionally, the research findings challenge us to consider how emerging AI learning technology can be leveraged to build equity-mindedness in higher education and improve the way we approach learning and accessibility in academic institutions.
